There are far more scare stories about CWI than actual problems. If you have a defective wall with holes in it or loose render; or a gutter spilling water down the wall, then you need to fix it. If you have a cavity filled with builders rubble then it should not be there (it is quite tiresome to remove) A. The roll are extra wide so each roll will cover 7.5 m2 or 121 ft2. Please use the link below to calculate the square meterage you may require, you will need to select Klimatec Thermovlies on the scroll menu. http://www.erfurt.com/cms/en/advisor/advisormain/calculation.html Insulation is amazing stuff. Remember the days of 3mm polystyrene roll (I think you can still get it!)? I recall as a wee kid coming across this stuff on a relative's old house wall, and being fascinated by how 'warm' it felt when I placed my palm on it. I realise now that 'warm' means that it didn't conduct heat out off my skin... This product is suitable as a localised ‘problem solver’ for cold external walls and is not recommended for use in fire escape routes inside your home unless the surface is further treated with a fire retardant covering. You can usually buy it from your gas or electricity company at a good price; they are highly unlikely to go bust or run off if there is a problem. It's not like complaining to a double-glazing or a kitchen fitting company.

This product should not be used in isolation for projects such as new builds and extensions where Building Regulations are applicable. If used as part of a system that both adds to the insulation value and protects the surface from fire it may be compliant but expert advice should be sought.Retro fitted cavity wall insulation doesn't have this and can in some cases act as a bridge for penetrating water to the inner leaf of the wall causing damp, the wet cavity can also lead to premature corrosion of wall ties. This is more likely on a Victorian cavity wall than a larger modern cavity wall. Lots of the companies that put the CWI in also don't have the best reputations. The wall or ceiling surface warms up much faster too thus reducing cold air currents and draughts that can make occupants feel cold – most of us have experienced standing near a cold window in a warm room and still feeling cold. Once the room is up to temperature, KV600 carries on working providing significant reductions in energy lost through the surface You probably need to look at slightly larger render companies to do the work as they are more likely to have previous experience. With rising energy costs the vast majority of us are looking for ways to save money: KV600 offers a cost effective, practical way to save energy in your home as well as helping to create a cosier environment. It has been approved by the Energy Saving Trust because of its thermal efficiency and energy saving properties. A. Yes you will do, especially when the heating is first turned on as room warm up time is reduced dramatically and the air currents that make you feel cold whilst a room warms up are also reduced. This is of course in addition to all the other benefits such as a reduction in noise entering through the treated wall.

Helps to alleviate condensation and mould problems even faster by raising and equalising the temperature in the room

Fibreliner Original 150

If you're lining a new wall, then you can apply the thermal liner directly to the plasterboard. However, if you're lining an existing wall, then you'll need to apply a primer first. This will ensure that the thermal liner adheres correctly and doesn't come away from the wall. Thermal liner is basically a thin material that is used to help maintain heat in a room. It is made from wood fibres interwoven with durable textile fibres. This gives you is a very strong, flexible material that when attached to the walls is said to increase the energy efficiency of the room in question. Does Thermal Liner increase the energy efficiency of walls? You can however use a normal Stanley knife but make sure you have loads of spare blades as you will need them.

To further increase the fire protection, we have devised a system to achieve a Class 1 rating - see the performance report here As a final tip – if you are going round the corners of rooms with the thermal liner, I suggest cutting it as per the diagram below. Walls, which have a surface temperature that is distinctly cooler than the ambient temperature, are an ideal breeding ground for mould. This is why the problem is often seen on outside walls and close to windows. The warm and moist room air condenses on the cooler areas of the walls and creates condensation. The moist walls then form a perfect breeding ground for mould to grow. Great surface for paint or paste-the-wall wallpapers (read more below if you'd like to use paste the paper wallpapers)A. Two main reasons, 1) It makes it much easier to achieve a nice neat finish with minimal filling and sanding 2) It helps protect your investment from damage creating a good base for paint or decorative wallpaper at the same time. Typical paste consumption guide : 5kg of adhesive per roll, The adhesive consumption indication is for guidance only, on walls in good condition less paste may be required whereas on damaged or textured walls and surfaces that are not vertical, more paste may be required. Q. I like the product however I’m worried about how it will look around light switches and skirting boards for example.

I don't know about the wallboard you are asking about but logically in insulation terms it's likely to little difference and it's more likely a psychological effect. My old country house has solid stone walls and boy do they feel cold inside. Not being able to have the cavity insulated -'cos there ain't no cavity - for years I've been seeking a solution to this. Alternatively, wallpaper can be applied directly to the surface. We strongly recommend a ‘Paste-The-Wall’ type of wallpaper. NB This is not a dedicated sound insulation product and the control of noise pollution is a complex subject so we cannot guarantee satisfactory results. For comprehensive information we recommend that advice from a specialist consultant is sought. This product is suitable as a localised ‘problem solver’ for cold external walls and is not recommended for use in fire escape routes inside your home unless the surface is further treated with a fire retardant covering. This product is class Efire rated andshould not be used for projects such as new builds and extensions where Building regulations are applicable. It's always best to choose a breathable thermal lining paper option, and KV600 is one of the most trusted on the market. Do not go around external corners just cut into them as they will not be straight. What happens is the next wall the Thermal Liner will not be straight and this will cause problems when butt joining the product. I applied the System Adhesive to walls using a medium pile roller, using a brush around skirting and ceiling where the roller wouldn't “reach”, making sure there was plenty of adhesive on the wall where I used the brush – i.e. I didn't brush it out.
